Here I am, all slickered up for the 2015 AGS Conference banquet. After a day of lectures on women in the war, newspapers, FamilySearch and French-Canadian records, I was ready for some socializing! I was lucky enough to meet two other students at my table who are working on their PLCGS certificate from the National Institute for Genealogical Studies (the certificate I recently completed), and then we were able to listen to a talk from one of our NIGS teachers, Gena Philibert-Ortega. Gena's talk was fantastic, and followed the case of some letters she found in an antique store, and how she researched the people involved. It made me want to run out to an antique store to find my own treasures to reunite with their owners.
Tomorrow is another day of lectures, where I will be attending lectures on immigration, Edmonton history, and two more of Gena's lectures. It's a busy weekend full of lots of learning for this genealogist!
