Today I watched a webinar found online on the Youtube channel of the Hamilton Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. It was entitled “Researching family history from this side of the pond” by Ruth Blair. Ruth was one of my former instructors at the National Institute for Genealogical Studies, so I was excited to see her presentation. You can view it here for yourself:
It was a presentation after my own heart, since it incorporated both Canadian and Irish research and it left me with a desire to look into Township Papers for my Ontario ancestors, and to check out Schedule 4 on the 1871 census. It also made me realize how many webinars I’ve watched about Irish research, and how few I’ve watched about Irish Canadian research, or Canadian research in general. I thank the Hamilton branch for posting this informative lecture, and to Ruth Blair for sharing her knowledge with us all!
